Inpatient Shares of Cases Across Many Disease States Decrease in 2021

The inpatient percentage of all-payer rheumatoid arthritis cases dipped to 21.4% in 2021 from 22.0% in 2020; decreases were recorded for 11 of the 15 chronic disease states shown.

Meanwhile, the 2021 share of commercial inpatient knee osteoarthritis cases continued to dwindle for all but one region (Southwest), following an already significant drop from 2019 to 2020.
